Former London Bus Route 21A (Pre 1950-1984) - Woolwich - Eltham - Farningham.

History:

The route 21A began before 1950, and was operated at Sidcup Garage (SP) by RTL type buses. The route Woolwich (non-stop to Eltham) then Eltham High Street, New Eltham, Sidcup, Foots Cray, Swanley, Farningham (Mon-Fri peak hours). The route only ran Monday to Friday. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 11RTL. On the 6th July 1952 a Saturday service was introduced. The route revised, Woolwich (Mon-Fri peaks) , Woolwich Common , Well Hall Road, Eltham (Mon-Sat) Eltham High Street, New Eltham, Sidcup, Foots Cray, Sidcup Garage (Mon-Sat). The current PVR was Monday to Friday 12RTL and Saturday 6RTL. On the 4th May 1955 The RTL type was withdrawn and replaced by RT type buses. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 11RT and Saturday 6RT. Later on the 17th October 1956 the route was revised again, Farningham - Eltham (Mon-Sat) – Woolwich (Mon-Fri peaks). The current PVR was Monday to Friday 14RT and Saturday 9RT.

On the 10th October 1962 the Saturday service was withdrawn, and the route was revised again Monday to Friday, Woolwich (Mon-Fri peaks) – Well Hall Station (Mon-Fri) - Farningham (Mon-Fri). The current PVR was Monday to Friday 12RT. On the 15th June 1968 a weekend service was introduced, The route now ran Monday to Sunday from Swanley Garage to Sidcup Station and Monday to Friday Peaks ran between Farningham and Sidcup Station. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 5RT, Saturday 2RT and Sunday 1RT. Later on in October 1968 the route was converted to One Person Operation by MB type single deck buses. The route was also revised, Farningham (Mon-Fri peaks) – Swanley Garage – Well Hall Station. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 9MB, Saturday 6MB and Sunday 2MB. On the 8th January 1972 the route was withdrawn between Swanley and Farningham. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 9MB, Saturday 6MB and Sunday 2MB.

On the 24th November 1973 the MB type buses were withdrawn and replaced by SMS type buses. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 9SMS, Saturday 7SMS and Sunday 2SMS. By early December 1976 the SMS type buses were withdrawn and replaced by DMS type double deckers. On the 4th September 1982 the 21A was withdrawn between Sidcup and Well Hall Station, the route now ran from Swanley Garage and Sidcup Station. The current PVR was Monday to Saturday 2DMS, Sunday 1DMS. By late November 1982 the DMS type was withdrawn and replaced by Titans. In October 1983 the Sunday service was withdrawn? The current PVR was Monday to Friday 3T and Saturday 2T. The route was withdrawn on the 27th October 1984.
