The 468 was introduced on the 27th March 1999 as this was the re-numbered 68A
. Arriva London operated the route from South Croydon Garage (TC) Their was a joint allocation of Deckers which operated the 468, Leyland Olympians (L) and Metrobuses (M). The PVR on Monday to Fridays was 25 L/M, Saturday 23 L/M and Sunday 10 L/M. A year later, Arriva London South allocated some new low floor double deckers (DLA) these mainly ran on the 468 as it was the one of the highest peaked routes TC. There was a slight frequency increase on a Sunday to make the PVR 11DLA.
On the 1st April 2006 Arriva lost the contract to Go Ahead Group London Central which they operated the 468 from their Camberwell Garage which a brand new fleet allocation (WVL’s). The current PVR was Monday To Friday 24WVL, Saturday 23WVL & Sunday 13WVL. Although their was no need for the 468 to travel to south Croydon Garage anymore so it was withdrawn, and the 468 only went as far as the swan and sugar loaf. On the 2nd April 2011, London Central managed to retain the contract for the 468, for another five years using the existing fleet. The current PVR is Monday To Friday 26WVL, Saturday 24WVL & Sunday 14WVL. The average journey time is between 45 & 80mins. The frequency Monday To Saturday is every 6 to 8 mins, Sunday and evenings every 12-15mins.
