Former London Bus Route 254 (pre 1950-1979) - South Woodford Stn - Latchett Road - St Barnabas Road - Hillside Avenue - Buckhurst Way - Buckhurst Hill Stn - Loughton - Debden - Loughton Station.

The route 254 on the 18th January 1950; the route provided a service between Buckhurst Hill Station and Loughton Station via Loughton Garage. The route was operated by Loughton Garage. The current PVR was 4 Monday to Saturday and 3 Sunday.
On the 6th May 1953 a Mann Egerton (TD) type was introduced. The PVR was also increased to 6TD Monday to Friday, 7TD Saturday and 4TD Sunday. On the 7th October 1953 the TD type was replaced by RF’s.
On the 8th January 1958 there was some route changes SOUTH WOODFORD STN (MS), BUCKHURST HILL STN (Suns), LOUGHTON STN. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 6RF, Saturday 7RF and Sunday 2RF.
On the 3rd October 1965 the route was converted to One Person Operation. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 7RFo, Saturday 9RFo and Sunday 3RFo.
On the 19th October 1975 the route was diverted away from Latchett Road and Maybank Road because of a new building of the A406 and M11. The PVR stayed the same.
By the 10th April 1976 the Sunday service was withdrawn. The current route was South Woodford Station to Loughton Station. The RFo was replaced by the SMS type. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 6SMS and Saturday 5SMS.
On the 23rd July 1978 the SMS type was replaced by Leyland Nationals (LS). By the 31st March 1979 the route was withdrawn and mainly replaced by route 255.
