- On the 28th October 2000 the 339 was first introduced and provided a Monday to Saturday service between Bow (Fish Island) and Shadwell. The contract was awarded to First London and operated from Hackney Garage (H). The current PVR was Monday to Saturday 3DM (Dennis Marshall).
- On the 20th August 2005, A Sunday operation was introduced by First. The current PVR Monday to Sunday was 3DM.
- On the 15th December 2007, the allocation was transferred to First at Lea Interchange (LI) Garage, with a slight PVR increase to 4DM (Mon-Sun).
- On the 6th November 2010, the contract was retained by First using brand new Enviro 200’s. The current PVR was Monday to Sunday 4DMe from Lea Interchange.
- On the 17th November 2011 the route was extended from Bow to Stratford City Bus Station. The current PVR was Monday to Saturday 6DML and Sunday 4DML.
- On the 22nd June 2013 the contract was transferred over to Tower Transit due to First exiting London.
- On the 31st August 2013 the 339 was extended from Stratford City to Leytonstone Station via Leyton Road. The current PVR Monday to Saturday 9DML and Sunday 6DML.
- On the 27th May 2022, Tower Transit was purchased by Stagecoach London, the current PVR from Lea Interchange is Monday to Saturday 11DM and Sunday 8DM.
