History: The route 194B began on the 27th February 1963 and provided a Monday to Saturday service between Thornton Heath and Shrublands Estate. The route was operated at Elmers End Garage by RT type buses. The route ran from Thornton Heath High Street to Shrublands Monday to Friday Peaks and Saturday and Monday to Friday from Thornton Heath Garage to Shrublands. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 8RT and Saturday 4RT. By the 31st October 1970 the route ran from Thornton Heath Garage to Thornton Heath High Street at all times. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 12RT and Saturday 7RT. By March 1973 the RT type was withdrawn and replaced by Routemasters (RM). By the 1st December 1973 the 194B was converted to One Man Operation by DMS type buses. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 13DMS and Saturday 8DMS.
On the 28th October 1978 the 194B operation was transferred from Elmers End to Thornton Heath Garage (TH). They still used the same kind of buses DMS type. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 11DMS and Saturday 8DMS. There were no changes to the 194B for just under 10 years until 14th May 1988 when there was changes to the routing of the 194B,

Shrublands (MS). The current PVR was Monday to Friday 11DMS and Saturday 7DMS. In January 1990 the 194B was diverted through Shirley Way. Later on the 21st July 1990 the route was revised Monday to Saturday Daytime ran from Thornton Heath High Street to Shrublands and Monday to Saturday evenings ran from W Croydon to Shrublands. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 10D and Saturday 7D. On the 14th March 1992 the 194B was withdrawn and replaced by
route 198.
