History: The route 286 began on the 13th June 1970 and provided a daily service between Edgware Station and Harrow on the Hill via Canons Park Stn, Stanmore, Uxbridge Road, Harrow Weald and Wealdstone. This new route was introduced to replace the withdrawn section of the 114 between Harrow Weald and Edgware. The route was operated from Edgware Garage EW by SMS type buses. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 10SMS, Saturday 8SMS and Sunday 4SMS. 10 years later on the 7th November 1980 the route was converted to double deck operation using Metrobuses. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 9M, Saturday 10M and Sunday 5M. On the 27th April 1985 the Sunday service was withdrawn and replaced by route 140. The current route was from Edgware Station and Harrow Bus Station. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 8M and Saturday 9M. On The 2nd November 1985 the route was withdrawn and replaced by routes
140 and 209.
