London Bus Route 273 (1968-1984) - Ealing Broadway - Eaton Rise - Montpelier Avenue - Cleveland Road - Argyle Road - Ruislip Road East - Greenford - Yeading - Ruislip Station.

History:

The route 273 began on the 30th November 1968 and was enforced as this route replaced parts of the old 211. The route provided a Monday to Saturday service between Ealing Broadway and Ruislip Station and Sunday ran from Ealing Broadway to Ruislip Lido. The route was operated at Southall Garage (HW) by RT type buses. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 7RT, Saturday 8RT and Sunday 6RT. On the 17th June 1972 the route was extended from Ruislip Station to Hayes Station this was only Monday to Friday (except evenings). The current route was Monday to Friday evenings, Saturday and Sunday ran from Ealing Broadway to Ruislip Station and Monday to Friday (except evenings) ran from Ealing Broadway to Hayes Station. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 12RT, Saturday 8RT and Sunday 6RT.

On the 6th January 1973 the route was withdrawn on Sundays between Greenford and Ealing Broadway, so the current route was Ealing Broadway (Mon-Sat) - Greenford (Suns) – Ruislip Station (MF evenings/Sat/Suns) – Hayes Station (Mon-Fri except evenings). The route was also converted to (Single Deck) one person operation using SMS type. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 12SMS, Saturday 8SMS and Sunday 5SMS. On the 31st March 1979 the route was re- introduced between Greenford and Ealing. The current route was, Ealing Broadway – Ruislip Station (Mon-Sat evenings) – Hayes Station (MS except evenings) or Ruislip Lido (Suns). The current PVR was Monday to Friday 11SMS, Saturday 9SMS and Sunday 5SMS. Later on that year on the 27th May the Sunday service was converted to Double Deck operation using DMS type. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 11SMS, Saturday 9SMS and Sunday 5DMS.

On the 28th October 1979 the Sunday service was withdrawn between Ruislip Station and Ruislip Lido. The Sunday service was converted to Metrobus (M) operation instead of DMS type. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 11SMS, Saturday 9SMS and Sunday 4M. A few months later on the 22nd March 1980 the route was re-introduced between Ruislip Station and Ruislip Lido on Sundays. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 11SMS, Saturday 9SMS and Sunday 5M. On the 3rd August 1980 the route was converted to fully double deck operation using M type buses. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 11M, Saturday 9M and Sunday 5M. On the 27th September 1980 the Sunday service was withdrawn between Ruislip Station and Ruislip Lido. On the 19th April 1981 the route was extended again from Ruislip Station and Ruislip Lido on Sundays and then later on the 31st October the route was withdrawn again between Ruislip Station and Ruislip Lido on Sundays.

On the 24th April 1982 the route was extended from Ruislip Station to Ruislip Lido Sundays and on the 4th September 1982 the route was withdrawn between Ruislip Station and Ruislip Lido on Sundays. The Monday to Saturday service was also withdrawn between Ruislip and Hayes. The current route was Ealing Broadway to Ruislip Station. The current PVR was Monday to Saturday 5M and Sunday 4M. On the 23rd April 1983 the Sunday service was extended from Ruislip Station to Ruislip Lido the current PVR was Monday to Sunday 5M, by the 8th October 1983 the Sunday service was withdrawn between Ruislip Station and Ruislip Lido. On the 14th April 1984 the route was extended on Sundays from Ruislip Station to Ruislip Lido. On the 2nd June 1984 the route was withdrawn and partly replaced by route E2.
