Click Here History: The route N1 began on the 25th June 1995 and provided a nightly service between Trafalgar Square and Plumstead Garage via Aldwych, Waterloo, Elephant and Castle, Surrey Quays, Deptford Broadway, Greenwich and Woolwich. The
N3 also ran between Trafalgar Square and Victoria but only meal relief journeys. The route was operated at New Cross Garage (NX) by Titans. The current PVR was Monday to Sunday 2T. On the 8th November 1997 a Bexleyheath allocation was introduced (BX) and NV type buses was introduced to the route. The current PVR was Monday to Sunday evenings 2NV from BX and 3NV from NX.
On the 14th November 1998 the contract was awarded to First Capital and the allocation was transferred to Northumberland Park Garage (NP). The route was also withdrawn between Trafalgar Square and Victoria. The current PVR was Monday to Sunday 2TN. On the 8th January 2000 the route was extended from Plumstead to Thamesmead town centre and the allocation was transferred to Dagenham (DM). The current PVR was Monday to Sunday 6TN using the X 25 buses.
On the 24th April 2000, the N1 was withdrawn between Aldwych and Trafalgar Square, and was diverted to Tottenham Court Road Station via Holburn. On the 1st December 2001 the allocation was transferred to Hackney garage. By the 15th October 2005 First Capital lost the contract to East Thames Buses and they increased the frequency. The route is now operated at Belvedere Garage (BV) and the current PVR is 9VWL Monday to Sunday. The average journey time is between 55 and 65 minutes. The frequency Monday to Sunday is every 30 minutes.
