History: The 211 began on the 18th September 1971, and provided a Monday to Saturday service between Kingston Bus Station and Walton on Thames. This route was enforced as this replaced the withdrawn section of
route 131 between West Molesey and Walton. The route was operated by SMS type which was one person operation. The route was operated from Norbiton Garage (NB). The current PVR was Monday to Friday 5SMS and Saturday 4SMS. On the 28th October 1972 the route was diverted to Hurst Park Estate, there were no other changes. By the 10th April 1976 the 211 was diverted at West Molesey via Field Common Estate. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 7SMS and Saturday 4SMS.
On the 28th January 1978 a Sunday service was introduced, there were a few slight changes to the 211’s route, as the route was extended from Kingston to Tolworth Broadway and the Sunday service ran between Tolworth and Kingston only. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 7SMS, Saturday 5SMS and Sunday 3SMS. On the 15th July 1979 the route was converted to double deck operation using Metrobuses. The current PVR was Monday to Friday 7M, Saturday 5M and Sunday 3M. On the 4th September 1982 the Sunday service was withdrawn. On the 29th January 1983 the route was withdrawn and was partly replaced by
route 216.
