Click Here History: The route 199 began on the 27th April 1991; the route provided a daytime service between Elephant and Castle to Lewisham Riverdale Centre. The route was operated at Catford Garage (TL) by Titan type buses. The contract was under the company called Selkent. The route was

– Catford Garage (Garage Journeys). The current PVR was Monday to Friday 8T, Saturday 7T and Sunday 8T. On the 8th October 1994 the route was extended to Catford Garage at all times so the route was now Elephant and Castle to Catford Garage, the 199 was rerouted around the Plough Way area to provide a bus service for the Pepys Estate. The current PVR was Monday to Saturday 10T and Sunday 9T. By early 1996 the contract was now under Stagecoach Selkent.
On the 18th September 1999 the route was withdrawn between Canada Water and the Elephant and Castle, this meant a decrease in the PVR, Monday to Saturday 9VN/T and Sunday 7VN/T. On the 1st January 2000 the 199 was converted to Low floor operation by Stagecoach, using TA type buses. The current PVR is 9TA Monday to Saturday and 7TA Sunday. The average journey time is between 35 and 55 minutes. The average frequency is Monday to Saturday every 12 minutes, Sunday every 15 minutes and evenings every 15-20 minutes. By 2006 the current PVR is Monday to Friday 10TA, Saturday? and Sunday?
